HOTEL - BEDROOM LIGHTING
London | Hospitality
PROJECT OVERVIEW
CLIENT: Undisclosed
SCOPE:
Decorative bedroom lighting package.
SCALE:
460-bedroom hotel, including wall lights, reading lights and floor lamps
PROGRAMME:
30 weeks from design development to delivery.
BELGRAVE ROLE
Project delivered by the founder of BELGRAVE, engaged directly by the client to develop, rationalise and deliver a commercially viable lighting package aligned with design intent and budget constraints.
PROJECT BRIEF
The client required a cohesive decorative lighting scheme across a large-scale airport hotel, aligned with the interior design vision. Initial specified fittings exceeded budget and required review. A revised approach was needed to maintain the intended aesthetic while ensuring cost control, consistency across 460 rooms, and alignment with programme.
THE CHALLENGE
The original lighting specifications were not commercially viable and required reinterpretation across a large-scale hotel scheme. Maintaining a consistent aesthetic while introducing alternative fittings created design coordination challenges. In parallel, evolving design direction and programme constraints required ongoing adjustments without disrupting delivery.
KEY CONSTRAINTS
- Original specified fittings exceeded budget
- Requirement to maintain design intent with alternatives
- Evolving design direction during project
- Consistency across 460 rooms
- Programme and delivery alignment
BELGRAVE’s APPROACH
The founder of BELGRAVE was engaged to review and restructure the lighting package at an early stage. Working closely with the design team, alternative solutions were developed to reflect the original intent while aligning with budget constraints.
As the scheme evolved, specifications were continuously refined and coordinated across all areas, ensuring consistency of finish, performance and aesthetic while maintaining programme alignment.
SCOPE OF INVOLVEMENT
- Design refinement
- Specification development
- Technical validation
- Drawings review
- Manufacturing management
- Programme planning
- Cost alignment
TECHNICAL RESOLUTION
A wide range of decorative fittings were translated into manufacturable solutions through detailed technical development. Each product was refined to balance cost, performance and aesthetic requirements, supported by drawings, samples and prototype reviews to ensure consistency across the scheme.
MANUFATURING & DELIVERY
Production was managed through staged reporting and inspection processes, ensuring visibility across all manufacturing stages. Quality assurance included both internal factory checks and independent third-party inspection prior to dispatch.
PROGRAMME PROTECTION MEASURES
- Structured drawing and approval process
- Sample and prototype validation
- Ongoing factory inspection and reporting
- Third-party quality verification
- Logistics and delivery coordination
- Alignment with contractor programme
